What Are Classics?

The definition is rather hard to pin down. Certainly, a classic is a book accepted as being exemplary. Essentially, a classic is a book that people agree is a classic. The hard questions are how many people have to agree and which people have to agree? The standard seems to have fluidity. I have to assume I’ll recognize a classic when I come across one, but there doesn’t seem to be a hard fast rule.

My goals is to read classics from different time periods, cultures and genres. I, also, don't want to do a lot of re-reading of books that I clearly remember.

I started this challenge in Jan.of 2015
